Privacy Policy

Transparency is at the core of TabQuest. Here is exactly how we handle your data—and why most of it never leaves your machine.

Zero Servers

TabQuest is designed as a serverless extension. We do not maintain a central database of your user profiles, tasks, or notes.

Local-First Data

100% of your personal data lives in your browser's IndexedDB and LocalStorage. It never touches our infrastructure.

1. Data Collection & Usage

Extension Usage: The TabQuest browser extension does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not track your browsing history, search queries, or the content of your notes. All extension data is stored locally on your device.

Contact & Support: If you choose to contact us via the form on this website, we collect your Name, Email Address, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not used for marketing or sold to third parties.

Personal Data we DO NOT collect (Extension):

  • ❌ Browsing History
  • ❌ Note Contents
  • ❌ Passwords
  • ❌ IP Addresses (Logged)
  • ❌ Location (GPS)
  • ❌ Search Queries

2. External Services & APIs

To provide dynamic features like weather and favicons, TabQuest interacts with specific external endpoints. We choose these services for their transparency and reliability.

Weather Service (Val Town)

When you set a weather location, TabQuest sends the City Name to our unlisted Val Town backend to aggregate weather data. This request does not include any user identifiers. You can audit the weather logic at our Val Town repository.

Favicon Service (Google)

To display high-quality icons for your bookmarks, we use Google's S2 Favicon service. When a bookmark is displayed, your browser requests the icon directly from Google's servers.

Communication Service (EmailJS)

To process support requests and messages sent through our website, we use EmailJS. When you submit a message, your name and email are securely transmitted to our team via their service. You can review their privacy policy at emailjs.com.

Feedback System (GitHub)

We encourage technical feedback and bug reports via GitHub Issues. Using GitHub is subject to their own privacy policy and terms of service.

3. No Third-Party Tracking

TabQuest contains zero trackers, zero analytics scripts (like Google Analytics or Mixpanel), and zero advertising code. We don't even know how many people are using the extension at any given time.

4. Changes to this Policy

As TabQuest evolves, we may update this policy. Any significant changes regarding data handling will be announced via our GitHub repository and the "What's New" notification within the extension.
